Scott L. Carey is a founding partner of Bates Carey Nicolaides LLP. His practice focuses on insurance, reinsurance, transportation, professional liability, tort and insurance coverage litigation. Scott also counsels clients in claims administration, risk management, brokerage and regulatory matters, and functions as U.S. claims counsel for Bermuda insurers. Before entering private practice, Scott was the senior claims officer of an international professional liability/surplus lines underwriting facility.
Scott is a frequent lecturer at transportation, risk management, insurance and CLE conferences. Topics have included:

Scott received his J.D. from John Marshall Law School and a B.B.A. from the University of Wisconsin.
Scott is admitted to the Illinois and Wisconsin bars; the United States District Courts for the Northern and Central Districts of Illinois; the United States Courts of Appeals for the Fourth, Seventh and Tenth Circuits; and the United States Supreme Court. Scott is a member of the American, Illinois, and Wisconsin Bar Associations, The Defense Research Institute, the Tort and Insurance Practice Section of the American Bar Association, and The National Association of Railroad Trial Counsel. |
